Weather Forecast Thunderstorm Heavy Rain To Lash Several Odisha Districts Predicts IMD


The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued thunderstorm and heavy rainfall alert for several districts in Odisha.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is also likely to occur at a few places over the districts of North Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha in the next 24 hours, predicted IMD.

“Due to steep pressure gradient and strong monsoon flow, squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph very likely over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining central Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours,” said IMD.

Weather forecast and warning for districts of Odisha for next five days

Day 1 (valid from 1330 hrs IST of 20.06.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 21.06.2021)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of North Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha.

Day 2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 21.06.2021up to 0830 hrs IST of 22.06.2021)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower likely to occur at a few places over the districts of North Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha.

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam and Bargarh.

Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 22.06.2021up to 0830 hrs IST of 23.06.2021)

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, , Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Sonepur.

Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Boudh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore.

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 23.06.2021up to 0830 hrs IST of 24.06.2021)

Yellow Warning(To be updated): Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bargarh, Bolangir, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Jharsuguda Nuapada.

Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khordha.
